Moving Money (Macabre Edition)

We've talked about selling pets on the Auction House, but there's another advantage of selling pets on the auction house besides just making gold. That my greedy little gold goblin (or gnome) is using pets to move money.

Once upon a time, when I spent months grinding ghouls in Eastern Plaguelands to save for my Green Skeletal Warhorse, most people had 1 maybe 2 characters and the majority were of the same faction and of course on the same server.

These days almost everyone has their own little army of alts on both sides and on numerous factions. That being said the majority of people have the bulk of their gold on one faction on one server with a spattering of gold pieces on the other alts.

Everyone knows or should know by now that if you need some money on an alt you can just mail it back and forth between your characters as needed... as long as they are both of the same faction and server. So what do you do when you need money on the other faction side or a different server. Well you could always pay to transfer your character who is stocked up with gold to that other faction or server. However I'm guessing it's not worth $30 to everyone.

So let's take a look at one of the other options you have.

The first and most easy to maneuver to understand is going to be moving pets. Last month during the Day of the Dead a lvl 90 character could do a simple quest line that gave you a Macabre Marionette. (Here the Macabre Marionette is not the only pet you could do this with, but since I had a slew of them in my bags I figured I'd use this pet as an example.)

So when you get the pet right click it to learn it. Then access your pet tab (shift + p) type the name of the pet in the search bar and right click it. Pick the option to Put in Cage and hit okay when the prompt comes up.

Now take your pet to the local auction house and you can sell it right away. As seen here on Emerald Dream Alliance side they are going for 400 gold.

I know what you're saying ... that's not moving money that's just selling on the auction house. So let's right click that caged pet again (to relearn it) and this time log out. Switch over to the server or faction you need money on. Go to your pet tab, put the pet in a cage and sell it on this faction or servers auction house. Look at that! On Drak'Tharon Horde side this pet goes for 900g. So put it up on the auction house and make yourself some money on that Faction or Server where you needed a little extra gold.

(yes you are right that is the whole Twill Set .. it's okay you can be jealous :P )


As I said this isn't the only pet or the limit to what you can do with moving pets. If you really like playing on different servers or factions auction houses you can go back and forth and see low selling prices on one side of the auction house, buy them up and relist them on the other side.
